Do microgreens need soil?
Not the varieties on this page. They grow on a damp mat, kitchen paper or coir. Basil also does well in compost.
How long until I can harvest?
Cress, mustard and rocket are ready in five to ten days; broccoli, radish and kale microgreens in seven to fourteen.
Should I soak microgreen seeds?
Not cress, rocket, mustard, basil or mizuna, which form a gel. Brassicas such as broccoli and radish can have a short soak; see each product page.
What's the difference between sprouts and microgreens?
Sprouts are eaten after a few days, root and all. Microgreens are grown in light for a week or two and cut above the base once the first leaves open.
