What are Broccoli Raab Sprouting Seeds?
How to use
How to grow Broccoli Raab Sprouting Seeds
- Soak 2 tablespoons of seed per 1-litre jar in plenty of cool water for 2–4 hours.
- Drain well and keep the jar at room temperature, out of direct sun, tilted so excess water runs out.
- Rinse and drain 2–3 times a day. Keep the soak short: soaking for longer than 4 hours can reduce germination.
- Green up: on the last day, move the jar into indirect light so the little leaves turn green.
- Harvest after 4–5 days, when the sprouts are 2.5–4cm long with small green leaves. Give them a final rinse, drain very well and keep them in the fridge, using within 2–3 days.
How to grow broccoli raab microgreens on a tray (8–12 days)
- Prepare a shallow tray with a damp hemp or coir mat, a few layers of kitchen paper or 1–2cm of moist seed compost.
- Sow: There's no need to soak the seed first. Scatter the seed thinly and evenly, using about 15–20g for a standard 25 × 50cm tray or 4–5g for a 15 × 20cm tray.
- Cover for 2–3 days to keep the seeds dark and moist while they germinate. Mist them if the surface starts to dry.
- Grow on in bright light, watering from below so the base stays damp but not soggy.
- Cut just above the base once the first pair of leaves has opened, usually after 8–12 days.
Quality & Sourcing: Nature's Root selects high-quality organic seed and packs it carefully to maintain freshness. Batches are checked for quality and handled in line with good manufacturing practices.
Allergens & Storage: Packed in a facility that handles nuts and sesame. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Reseal after opening.
Food safety: The Food Standards Agency advises cooking sprouted seeds until they're steaming hot all the way through before eating, unless they're sold as ready to eat. Home-grown sprouts aren't, so cook them first, and keep them in the fridge once harvested.

Method: Jar sprouts (3-5 days): rinse the seeds, soak for 6-8 hours, then drain well. Rinse and drain 2-3 times daily, keeping the jar tilted for airflow, until sprouted to your liking. Microgreens (7-10 days): spread the seeds thinly on a pre-moistened mat or fine seed compost in a shallow tray, cover for 24-48 hours, then uncover to bright, indirect light and bottom-water to keep evenly moist.
Ready to harvest: 3-5 days for jar-grown sprouts; 7-10 days for tray-grown microgreens.

How much seed should I use?
About 2 tablespoons for a 1-litre jar, or 15–20g for a standard 25 × 50cm tray (4–5g for a 15 × 20cm tray).
What does broccoli raab taste like?
Tangier and more mustardy than broccoli, with a slightly bitter finish. It pairs well with garlic, chilli and lemon.
