Returns and refunds
What is your returns policy?
You can return items within 30 days of receiving your order, as long as they're unused and in their original, unopened packaging. For food safety reasons we can't accept opened food products back unless they're faulty. Read our full refund policy.
How do I return an item?
Email info@naturesroot.co.uk with your order number and the item you'd like to return. We'll reply with the returns address and next steps. Please contact us before sending anything back.

Our products
What does Nature's Root sell?
Nature's Root is a UK online shop that has been selling natural ingredients since 2013. Our range includes superfood powders, mushroom powders, herbs and Ayurvedic powders, sprouting and microgreen seeds, nuts, seeds, dried fruit, cacao, and natural hair and skin care powders.
Where do your products come from?
Our ingredients come from growers around the world, depending on where each plant grows best. Where we have it, you'll find the country of origin on each product page, under Origin, storage & safety.
Are your products vegan?
Most of our range is plant-based, and each product page tells you whether it's suitable for vegans. A few products, such as bee pollen and marine collagen, are not vegan.
Do your products contain allergens?
All of our products are packed in a facility that also handles nuts and sesame. Some products are allergens themselves, such as nuts, sesame seeds and celery seed powder. Always check the allergen information on the product page and pack.
Why does the colour or taste vary slightly between batches?
Our products are natural ingredients, so colour, texture and flavour can vary slightly from harvest to harvest. This is normal and doesn't affect the product.
How should I store my products and how long do they last?
Keep pouches sealed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, and always use a clean, dry spoon. Powders absorb moisture and can clump if left open. The best before date is printed on each pack.
Why don't you list health benefits?
We sell our products as foods and ingredients, not medicines. UK law strictly controls health claims, so we describe what each product is, how it tastes and how to use it. If you have a health condition, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or take any medication, speak to your GP or pharmacist before trying herbal or mushroom products.
Using our products
How much should I use?
Follow the serving suggestion on the pack and the How to use section on each product page. Start with a small amount, especially with stronger-tasting herbs and mushroom powders.
How do I stop powders going lumpy?
Mix the powder with a splash of liquid to make a smooth paste first, then add the rest. A small whisk or milk frother helps, especially with hot drinks.
Which products are for external use only?
Our hair and skin care powders are for external use only. These include henna, indigo, bentonite clay, shikakai, aritha, bhringraj, brahmi, neem, walnut shell, eucalyptus and aloe vera leaf powder. Don't eat or drink them, and do a patch test 48 hours before each use.
Can I use your products if I'm pregnant, breastfeeding or taking medication?
Many herbal and mushroom powders aren't suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or for children. Please speak to your GP, midwife or pharmacist first, and check the Who shouldn't use it information on each product page.
Where can I find recipes and ideas?
Our Guides & Recipes blog has easy recipes and step-by-step guides, from matcha lattes and mushroom hot chocolate to hair masks and sprouting.
Sprouting seeds
How do I sprout seeds at home?
Soak the seeds in cool water, then rinse and drain them two or three times a day in a jar or tray. Most sprouts are ready in 3 to 6 days. Our guide to the best seeds for sprouting explains each step.
How long should I soak sprouting seeds?
It depends on the seed: from about 4 hours for alfalfa to 12 hours for chickpeas. See our soak time chart.
Are raw sprouts safe to eat?
Always use seeds sold for sprouting, keep your jar and hands clean, rinse regularly and keep sprouts in the fridge once harvested. The UK Food Standards Agency advises that raw sprouts should be avoided by people who are pregnant, older people, young children and anyone with a weakened immune system, who can cook their sprouts until steaming hot instead.
Can I grow microgreens with your seeds?
Yes. Many of our seeds, such as broccoli, radish, rocket and pea, can be grown on a tray of compost or a growing mat and harvested as microgreens after 1 to 2 weeks. Browse our sprouting and microgreen seeds.
