Questions about functional mushroom powders
Can't see your question? Get in touch and we'll help.
What is a functional mushroom powder?
It is a dried mushroom milled into a fine powder so it can be stirred into drinks and food. 'Functional mushroom' is the name commonly used for species such as lion's mane, reishi, chaga, cordyceps and turkey tail.
What is the difference between fruiting body and mycelium?
The fruiting body is the mushroom itself, the part that grows above ground. Mycelium is the root-like network the mushroom grows from, and it is often grown on grain, so mycelium powders can contain a lot of that grain. Each of our product pages states what the powder is made from where this is confirmed.
How do I use mushroom powder?
Stir it into coffee, tea or hot chocolate, blend it into smoothies and shakes, or add it to soups and broths. Start with a small amount and adjust to taste.
What does mushroom powder taste like?
Most mushroom powders have an earthy flavour. That is why they pair so well with coffee and cacao, which balance it out.
Should I choose a single mushroom or a blend?
Choose a single species if you want one specific mushroom. Choose a blend such as our 6 Mushroom Blend if you would like several in one pouch.
How should I store mushroom powder?
Keep it sealed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Always use a dry spoon so moisture does not get into the pouch.
