How to use
How to grow Red Lentil Sprouting Seeds
- Soak about 4 tablespoons (around 70g) of lentils per 1-litre jar in plenty of cool water for 8–12 hours.
- Drain well and keep the jar at room temperature, out of direct sun, tilted so excess water runs out.
- Rinse and drain 2–3 times a day. Remove any lentils that stay hard.
- Harvest after 2–3 days, when the roots are about the length of the lentil. Give them a final rinse, drain very well and keep them in the fridge, using within 2–3 days.
Quality & Sourcing: Nature's Root selects high-quality organic seed and packs it carefully to maintain freshness. Batches are checked for quality and handled in line with good manufacturing practices.
Allergens & Storage: Packed in a facility that handles nuts and sesame. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Reseal after opening.
Food safety: The Food Standards Agency advises cooking sprouted seeds until they're steaming hot all the way through before eating, unless they're sold as ready to eat. Home-grown sprouts aren't, so cook them first, and keep them in the fridge once harvested.

How long do red lentil sprouts take?
Just 2–3 days from soaking. They're best with short roots, about the length of the lentil.
How many lentils should I use?
About 4 tablespoons (around 70g) for a 1-litre jar.
Can I use split red lentils from the supermarket?
No. Only whole lentils sprout. Most supermarket red lentils are split and hulled, so they can't grow.
How do I use red lentil sprouts?
Stir them into dals, soups and curries at the end of cooking, or add them to salads and wraps.
Should I cook sprouts before eating them?
Yes. The Food Standards Agency advises cooking sprouted seeds until they're steaming hot all the way through, unless they're sold as ready to eat. Home-grown sprouts aren't, so cook them before eating.
Is it suitable for vegans?
Yes.
How should I store the seeds?
Keep them sealed in a cool, dry place away from sunlight, and reseal the pouch after opening.
