How to use
How to grow Red Beetroot Sprouting Seeds
- Prepare: soak the seed for 8–12 hours, then drain well.
- Sow in a single, close layer over 2–3cm of moist seed compost in a shallow tray with drainage holes. Use about 30–40g for a standard 25 × 50cm tray, or 8–10g for a 15 × 20cm tray. Cover with a thin layer of compost.
- Cover for 4–5 days to keep them dark and moist while the roots take hold.
- Grow on in bright light, watering from below so the compost stays damp but not soggy. Mist any seed caps stuck to the leaves and they'll soon drop off.
- Cut just above the compost when the stems are 5–8cm tall and the leaves have opened, usually after 2–3 weeks.

Can I grow beetroot in a sprouting jar?
No. Beetroot is slow and uneven to germinate and needs the steady moisture of compost. It's grown as microgreens, not jar sprouts.
How long do beetroot microgreens take?
About 2–3 weeks. Germination can take up to a week and is often uneven.
Why do several seedlings grow from one seed?
Each beetroot ‘seed’ is actually a small cluster of seeds, so one can produce two or three seedlings.
How much seed should I use?
About 30–40g for a standard 25 × 50cm tray, or 8–10g for a 15 × 20cm tray.
Is it suitable for vegans?
Yes.
How should I store the seeds?
Keep them sealed in a cool, dry place away from sunlight, and reseal the pouch after opening.
