Mushroom Coffee Pods for Nespresso® Original: How They Work
Mushroom coffee pods are the quickest way to try mushroom coffee: no measuring, no whisking, just a pod and a button. Here's what they are, which machines they fit, and how to get the best cup from them.
What are mushroom coffee pods?
They're coffee capsules filled with ground coffee plus a mushroom extract. The GoMush® pods we stock use dark roast Arabica coffee with an extract from one of five mushrooms: lion's mane, chaga, reishi, cordyceps or turkey tail. They brew exactly like a normal capsule. Which machines do they fit?
GoMush® pods are made for Nespresso® Original machines. Nespresso® makes two systems, and the capsules are not interchangeable:

They also won't fit Dolce Gusto®, Tassimo® or other pod systems. If you're unsure which machine you have, look at the capsules it came with. Small bullet shape means Original.
How to brew mushroom coffee pods
- Fill your machine's water tank and let it heat up.
- Lift the lever, drop the pod in and close it firmly.
- Put your cup under the spout and press espresso (a short, strong shot, around 40ml) or lungo (a longer, milder cup, around 110ml).
- Drink it black, or add milk, oat milk or a little sweetener to taste.
Ways to enjoy them
- Americano: brew an espresso and top up with hot water.
- Latte or flat white: brew an espresso and add frothed milk. Mushroom coffee's earthy note works especially well with oat milk.
- Iced coffee: brew an espresso over a glass of ice, then add cold milk.
- Mocha: stir a teaspoon of cacao powder and a little coconut sugar into the hot espresso before adding milk.
Which flavour should I choose?
- Lion's mane: the mildest, and the best place to start.
- Chaga: smooth and woody.
- Cordyceps: mild and slightly savoury.
- Turkey tail: subtle and earthy.
- Reishi: the boldest, with a naturally bitter edge that suits a milky latte.
Each comes in packs of 10, 20 or 30 pods.
How many pods a day?
GoMush® recommends no more than one pod a day. The pods contain coffee, so they contain caffeine, and they're not suitable for children. If you're pregnant, breastfeeding, take medication or have a health condition, speak to your GP or pharmacist before trying them.
Storage
Keep pods in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, and check the pack for recycling information.

Can I reuse a pod?
No. Each pod is designed for one brew, and a second run will just give you weak, watery coffee.
Do they taste like mushrooms?
Mostly they taste like dark roast coffee, with a gentle earthy finish.
Can I use them in a Vertuo machine?
No. GoMush® pods fit Nespresso® Original machines only.
