Questions about jar sprouting seeds
Can't see your question? Get in touch and we'll help.
What do I need to grow jar sprouts?
A clean glass jar with a mesh or sprouting lid, fresh water and somewhere at room temperature out of direct sun. A tilted stand helps the jar drain.
How long do jar sprouts take?
Beans, lentils and chickpeas take two to four days; alfalfa, clover, broccoli and radish take four to six days.
Why can't I sprout cress or rocket in a jar?
They are mucilaginous: they form a gel when wet, clump together and spoil. Grow them on a tray or mat instead.
Can some seeds be grown more than one way?
Yes. Broccoli, radish, kale, cabbage, kohlrabi and fenugreek grow well in a jar as sprouts or on a tray as microgreens. Each product page shows the methods that suit it.
